Madden & Madden was founded by James J. Madden, Esquire and Michael P. Madden, Esquire, the sons of Thomas M. Madden, Esquire, who served as a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Judge Madden received an LL.B. from Rutgers University School of Law in 1930. He was in private practice in Camden, New Jersey and served as an assistant U.S. Attorney of the District of New Jersey from 1943 to 1945. Judge Madden was appointed to the federal bench by President Harry S. Truman on October 9, 1945. He served as Chief Judge from 1961 to 1968. Judge Madden assumed senior status on January 1, 1968 and served in that role until his death in 1976.
Jim and Mike Madden, the Founding Partners of Madden & Madden, were born in Camden, New Jersey. They followed in their father's footsteps and pursued legal careers, attending law school locally at Temple University School of Law and Rutgers School of Law - Camden, respectively. Jim and Mike established Madden & Madden on the values engrained in them by Judge Madden - experience, integrity and commitment to clients.
Over the past 35 years, Madden & Madden has expanded every aspect of its practice. The firm is presently comprised of nine attorneys who specialize in all areas of civil and commercial litigation, land use and real estate, and estate planning and administration.
