About Penelope

I have been representing families and individuals with legal problems for over 35 years. I can help you assess your options, navigate the legal system, and move on with your life. My experience in helping families affected by disability and domestic violence make it possible for me to offer informed and specific information tailored to your legal needs.

I am a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University and Villanova Law School. I began my legal career working on class actions to benefit people with intellectual disabilities and mental health challenges. As a young lawyer I was fortunate in my mentors and had opportunities not usually available to new lawyers -- I appeared in oral argument before the Court of Appeals of the Third Circuit of the United States and participated in preparing briefs to the Supreme Court of the United States while I was very clearly still wet behind the ears. This work was challenging and taught me many tools of the legal trade. But it is detached somewhat from the real lives of real people - the reason I went to law school in the first place.

I have been an attorney in several different agencies working to help people with disabilities of all types for many years. But once my daughter was born, I moved on to set up a law practice that served individual clients. At first, I practiced mostly civil rights, education and special education law, but the practice grew (as did my daughter), I expanded to include family law in Chester County and the surrounding area. Within family law, I began working intensively with families affected by domestic violence, as well as divorce, custody and support. I am a member of the Chester County Bar Association and West Chester Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends.

Outside the office, I can be found in many places, often with my dog. We hang out in parks and read. And of course, watch the Phillies, whether its a good season or not so much.
