This firm emphasized clients’ education to make well-informed decisions through the stages of negotiation and litigation that are unique to family law and landlord-tenant matters. She was also previously employed as an associate attorney by a private firm with a focus on family law matters. She also sat first chair in felony trials in the Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit. Her passion for family law began as a Certified Domestic Violence Advocate with Congreso de Latinos Unidos, where she assisted with client intakes, motions, and document translation for Philadelphia Courts. Stephanie earned her Juris Doctor and Certificate of Trial Advocacy from Philadelphia’s Temple University Beasley School of Law. During her time at Temple University Beasley School of Law, she was a member of the Women’s Law Caucus, the secretary for the Latin American Law Student Association, the bilingual student advocate in the School Discipline Advocacy Series, and the class assistant to the Honorable Mia Perez in Integrated Trial Advocacy. Stephanie is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and is an active member of the Philadelphia Bar Association. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she lives in Philadelphia with her spouse and two pit bulls. When she is not advocating for her clients, she spends her time gardening, cooking, restoring old furniture, and traveling.

Taylor A. Gerchman founded Life Legal after working for several small to mid-size insurance law firms in the Philadelphia area where she proved herself to be a hard-working and dedicated attorney. From the beginning of her legal career, Taylor has focused solely on insurance litigation with an emphasis on group, whole or term life insurance claims, beneficiary disputes, and ERISA claim appeals. Taylor prides herself on recovering millions of dollars in life insurance benefits on behalf of her clients so far, and intends to more than double that amount in the coming years. Prior to becoming an attorney, Taylor earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Spanish from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. While a student at Lock Haven University, Taylor was a member of the Psi Chi, the International Honors Society of Psychology, and a peer group tutor in Spanish. Immediately after graduation, Taylor went to Thomas R. Kline School of Law at Drexel University, where she was a Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Fellow, a member of the Trial Team, and a Teaching Assistant for Introduction to Trial Advocacy. Cristiane Lucena, who prefers to go by Cris, is a Brazilian-born attorney with over two decades of experience navigating complex legal systems across two continents. She began her legal career in Brazil as a labor and employment attorney, and she also clerked for justices at the Labor Regional Court in Paraná. After relocating to the United States, Cris earned her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in U.S. law from the University of Houston Law Center (UHLC) in 2020 and passed the Texas Bar Exam during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Cris discovered her passion for immigration law while working as a student attorney at UHLC, where she advocated for vulnerable individuals facing overwhelming legal challenges. Since then, she has dedicated her career to immigration law, proudly supporting diverse communities—including Afghan nationals paroled into the U.S. due to the 2021 U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Her work is marked by compassion, diligence, and a deep understanding of the immigrant experience. In 2023, Cris moved to Philadelphia and joined Hykel Law in May 2025.
