About Peter
Since 1994, the law office of Peter M. Macy has provided legal services to assist seniors and their families with estate and retirement planning, health care financing, protective proceedings and other matters in probate court, including litigation. Combining legal knowledge with financial experience and effective advocacy, we are dedicated to the highest levels of service to our clients.
PETER M. MACY received his law degree from Boston College Law School in 1991. After two years working in Superior Court litigation, he worked for a year with Greater Boston Elder Legal Services, and in 1994 opened his practice focusing on the legal needs of seniors and their families (often referred to as "elder law.")
Mr. Macy has been a speaker and author on elder law topics in the Boston area since 1994, beginning with his article, Medicaid Planning After OBRA-93: Placing the Home in a Revocable Trust, 79 Massachusetts Law Review 2 (March, 1994).
Since 1994, Mr. Macy has served as guest lecturer at Suffolk University Law School and Boston College School of Social Work on Medicaid issues, as well as the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (program on Medicaid liens and estate recovery, February, 2000), Suffolk Law School Advanced Legal Studies Program, "Elder Law Institute V," (topics on authority of guardians and conservators, March, 1999), and the National Business Institute Seminar, "Elder Law: Taking Control of the Planning Process" (1994, 1996 and 1999).
Mr. Macy also speaks to numerous community and professional groups about both Medicaid and guardianship topics, and is available to groups seeking speakers or information on those subjects.
Prior to his career as a lawyer, Mr. Macy received degrees in counseling psychology from Harvard Divinity School and Harvard Graduate School of Education. He worked for a number of years in that field before turning to law.
