About Peter
Peter S. Selvin is a seasoned trial lawyer with more than 30 years of experience. Although he has particular expertise in the areas of insurance coverage and international litigation, he has successfully handled high-dollar real estate, intellectual property and other business disputes. Chief among his strengths is his ability to counsel clients and help achieve strategic business solutions. Since 2007 he has been listed for both Commercial Litigation and Insurance Law in Best Lawyers in America. He also enjoys the highest AV "preeminent" peer-review rating from Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory.
Last year Peter won a notable trial victory which resulted in the one of the largest judgments (over $ 22 million) issued in 2011 by the Los Angeles Superior Court. Other notable experience includes his involvement in a highly publicized three-month “bet the company” jury trial; his longstanding representation of media figures and celebrities in high-stakes litigation; and his expertise in successfully pursuing insurance coverage in the context of business torts and intellectual property litigation.
A graduate of the University of Chicago and the University of California (Los Angeles) law school, Peter is a prolific writer and frequent speaker on emerging legal topics. He has lectured or spoken before such organizations as Continuing Education of the Bar, the Practicing Law Institute and the International Bar Association.
Formerly with a partner for 25 years with a large international law firm, Peter now practices with Raines Feldman LLP, a boutique law firm in Beverly Hills, California, which is comprised of other former big firm partners.
