About Ralph
Bachelors degree from UC Berkeley 1970. Juris Doctorate UCLA 1973. Admitted to practice before all the courts of the State of California and the Federal District Courts of the Northern, Eastern and Southern Districts. Member of the Santa Cruz County Bar Association; American Association for Justice (formerly American Trial Lawyers Association); and California Bar Association
Boroff has practiced since 1974, serving the first ten years of his career as a prosecutor in the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office where he tried several high profile cases including public official misconduct cases and murderers. He became a guest lecturer on expert witness cross examination for the California District Attorneys Association and lectured throughout the state.
In 1984 Boroff joined the renowned "King of Torts," Melvin Belli, working for his firm in its Santa Cruz office where he developed his skills in medical product defect litigation, personal injury litigation and criminal defense. He was welcomed by long time catastrophic injury lawyer Robert Ludlow in 1987 when the two joined practices and Boroff spent the next several years honing his skills in areas of traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and RSD, each requiring a specific understanding of the medical nature of the injury and its proof. During that same period Boroff developed an expertise in multi-defendant litigation including government entity liability.
Boroff currently practices independently in a shared facility arrangement with seven other attorneys. His practice is limited to serious injury cases, often focused on defective products and highway design. He accepts cases throughout the Bay Area and the Central San Joaquin Valley.
