Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
After a client lost a case with an adverse verdict; I was retained to file a Rule 59 motion for a new trial and simultaneously initiate two law suits against the plaintiffs in the underlying case because they obtained the adverse judgment by untruthful testimony. After recusing a Judge, and following depositions, the clients had the judgment set aside and received land with a value of $500K. True homerun.Assisted a woman receive a significant sum of money related to her partial paralysis caused by a drug; she was able to purchase a home, a car, a car for her teen daughter and receives a tax free annuity monthly which is the equivalent of a $100,000 annual income for life, guaranteed for 35 years.Assisted a woman receive a significant sum of money related to her partial paralysis caused by a drug; she was able to purchase a home, a car, a car for her teen daughter and receives a tax free annuity monthly which is the equivalent of a $100,000 annual income for life, guaranteed for 35 years.
How did you build a successful practice?
Work 24/7 and treat every person I meet as a potential client; when younger I would sit in the courtroom and listen to older attorneys in trial; and the most significant impact to my professional growth was attending a Katherine James (no relation) Act of Communication seminar(s) and the ATLA Ultimate seminar (now Advocates for Justice).
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Experience, dedication, and commitment to the client's cause.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Very important, more than 50% contributing factor to success.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Learn about your case, the parties, your story. Perhaps more effective is an emailed narrative from you, perspective client.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Experience in trials, depositions, discovery, knowledge of the judiciary, respect from opposing counsel and my proven track record.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Making a difference in my clients' lives with what I am able to accomplish.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Family, my now adult daughter and my wife of 21 years who works with me in my firm. Aviation, pilot for 38 years. Saltwater fishing. Golf.
