About Randy
Randy J. Tunac is a partner of Allen, Tunac & Coughlon, PLLC, a criminal immigration defense firm located in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Tunac graduated cum laude from Excelsior College and obtained his law degree from Regent University School of Law. Prior to law school, Mr. Tunac served honorably as an officer in the United States Navy.
His experience included an appointment as an immigration officer for the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Tunac personally interviewed hundreds of individuals and families seeking lawful permanent residence in the United States, and examined the petitions and applications for many more seeking other immigration benefits. Mr. Tunac is also one of the nation's few immigration attorneys to successfully complete the Department of Homeland Security Immigration Officer Basic Training Course in Glynco, Georgia, where he earned Distinguished Graduate honors.
A number of accomplishments include:
- Mr. Tunac founded the Manifest Border, a web-based publication that focuses on news, federal cases, and legislation that affect immigration and citizenship law. It is the first web log to focus on current immigration topics.
- During his tenure as an immigration officer, Mr. Tunac served as a member of the "Decision Unit" that dealt with the most complex areas of immigration law. A sample of the issues which Mr. Tunac resolved included health, criminal, and misrepresentation waivers; domestic abuse and battered women permanent resident applications; and applications for readmission into the United States following deportation.
- In Arizona where immigration news has garnered national attention, Mr. Tunac successfully halted the deportation, secured the release, and in several instances, asserted and obtained U.S. citizenship on behalf of his clients while in the custody of the Department of Homeland Security.
Mr. Tunac is admitted to the State Bar of Arizona and is licensed to practice law before the Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court of Arizona, the Supreme Court of Arizona, and all U.S. Immigration Courts. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, the ABA Litigation Section, and the Immigration Section of the State Bar of Arizona. Mr. Tunac was born in Whittier, California.
