About Richard
Lawyer.com Member Questionnaire
Please describe a case(s) in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
1. I tried a case for a worker who fell on both knees on his job site. He developed rheumatoid arthritis that the Judge and insurance company said could not possibly be related. I found a rheumatologist in NYC who supported our position and we convinced not only the judge but the insurance company that the condition was related to the fall. My client has gotten medical treatment that he would not have otherwise received. He was also.paid workers compensation benefits.
How did you build a successful practice?
2. Networking and immediate responses are 2 ways I have found important to building a reputation in the community that fosters a successful practice.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
3. I today's current client immediate responses are imperative. That means being available 24/7. With 31 years experience I can answer any questions without having to do research. I know every workers comp judge in the State and have appeared before every one.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
4. Local knowledge helps with knowing your adversary and the judge. I know all the lawyers I am up against as well as every judge in the State.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
5. I can answer any questions by phone and can draw a road map as where the case is going to go. We plan our strategies based on the facts of the case. Where the case will be heard and who the insurance company is.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
6. All I ever need is the basic info about the case. Date of accident. How it happened. Wages. Insurance company and why the client feels they need a lawyer.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
7. My work effort. My track record including experience, knowledge and union background help me relate to my clients. As a union carpenter I know what it takes to do a physical days labor. I understand what workers r going through on their jobs.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
8. I love to argue and fight for workers. I strive to get them the benefits they r entitled to under the law. I also will not tolerate workers that I know r not being up front with their cases. Those that r trying to play the system ruin it for those who r fighting for benefits.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
9. I love music and animals. I volunteer at the Monmouth county SPCA. My passion is my work.
Are you involved in your community?
10. I served on my local town school board and planning board. I am also involved in politics. I am also the Chair of COSH an organization of lawyers, doctors, unions and workers that was formed to protect injured workers rights. It is called the Council on Safety and Health and I was 1 of the founding members. We lobby for workers rights reforms.
