About Richard

I am one of approximately 30 attorneys in the State of New Jersey  -- out of almost 100,000 lawyers licensed to practice law in our State -- who is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Municipal Court Trial Attorney.  In a confidential survey by the oldest and most trusted lawyer rating service, Martindale-Hubbell, my peers -- fellow lawyers and judges who are familiar with my professional ethics, legal knowledge and trial skills -- awarded me the highest attainable rating:  AV Preeminent.

I created an entirely unique DWI defense that has been accepted by the courts in New Jersey and utilized by attorneys throughout the United States.   I conduct seminars in DWI and Drug cases, and general Municipal Court Practice, to experienced and novice attorneys thorough New Jersey.    I have lectured at Universities and at one Law School, where the Law Professor acknowledged that I won"The most difficult DWI case ever tried in New Jersey." Over thirty-five years ago, I was among the first attorneys selected to prosecute "Career Criminals" in the State of New Jersey. I have since provided effective assistance to thousands of defendants in hundreds of the approximately 500 municipal courts located throughout the State of New Jersey. I have extensive trial and appellate experience as a former Assistant Essex County Prosecutor, a former Municipal Prosecutor for the Township of Springfield, a Criminal Defense Attorney and a member of the National College of DUI Defense. Inc. to aid you in the defense of your case. Whether the charge involves Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS), Shoplifting, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs (DWI/DUI), Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Underage Alcohol Possession, Eluding Police, Resisting Arrest or most other serious criminal and traffic charges, court cannot be avoided! A lot can be at stake if you are convicted, making it important that experienced counsel who concentrates in these areas of the law assist you. You may lose your privilege to drive in New Jersey; you might pay substantial fines, monetary penalties, higher car insurance premiums and surcharges. You may even be sentenced to jail!

I am a Municipal Court Specialist.  I am also available for legal consultation in other areas of practice.  I can help you obtain cash awards for your injuries that result from auto accidents, work accidents, products or machinery, and malpractice.  I can advise you how to restore your driving privileges, help you to legally change your name, and erase an unwanted criminal record for a prior arrest or conviction.  For more resources Visit my website:  www.idefendyou.com

Notable Work

Cases

State v. R.D.

In what is believed to be the first time in State of New Jersey, the State Expungement Statute has been applied to grant relief for a decedent. On January 28, 2011, Superior Court Judge Stephen B. Rubin entered an Order in Flemington, New Jersey, granting the Expungement of various arrests for disorderly persons offenses and an ordinance violation in the case of State v. R.D. The decedent met with his untimely death by suicide last year while complaints charging him with alleged violations of Obstructing the Administration of Law and a local Township Ordinance for remaining in a public park after dark were pending. Previously, the defendant had completed a Conditional Discharge for a marijuana offense, and an earlier charge of Obstructing the Administration of Law was dismissed.

State v. Marie D. Connelly

Achieved a not guilty verdict for DWI after lengthy trial and proceedings.
