Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

In the last 2 years, where I made the biggest positive difference was perseverance and attempting to always think about the long term goals when dealing with the day to day challenges. With the longer term in mind, I was able to focus better on quality decision making and interaction with clients and parties related to a particular file.

How did you build a successful practice?

I have been a lawyer now, with my own practice, since 1994. I have tried to help people with an objective point of view. I try to help identify the goal of a matter, and focus on that goal, without letting the inevitable distractions get in the way of meeting the goal, with success. The essential element in doing this, is not simply to be successful in litigation, but to focus more on helping my clients avoid litigation if possible. Sometimes, it is a requirement, and success in litigation is the goal, but if you can reach the goals without litigation, I feel as though you have really been good counsel to a client.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

A good temperament and patience, as well as a real desire to help the clients needs, appreciating the clients perspectives. A good work ethic.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Having been in Northwest Florida now for almost 24 years, it does matter. My roots are here. My family is here. The people I have worked with for 24 years are here. It is absolutely relevant.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

In our free phone consultation, I can listen to your issue, and help you gain a path to meeting your goal with an open discussion in response to the issue at hand.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

There are many good lawyers in the community. While this is without question true, I do try to focus on a healthy work ethic and an appropriate temperament that allows me the opportunity to negotiate more successfully on behalf of clients.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping people solve problems.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I love to hunt, fish and read, as well as spend as much time doing anything with my wife and children.

Are you involved in your community?

I am very involved with my community, being a member of Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as a past board member of Big Brother's and Big Sisters. I am also very active in my church.
