About Richard

Richard van Antwerp joined Robinson, Kriger & McCallum in 1985, after having served as a law clerk while he was still in law school. He became a partner in the firm in 1991 and presently serves on the firm’s Board of Directors. He is now the second most senior member of the firm.

Richard represents a wide range of clients in matters arising under both the Maine Workers’ Compensation Act and the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act. He also represents both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury cases. He is recognized in the Best Lawyers in America as one of the nation’s most skilled attorneys in the practice of workers’ compensation law.

Although he was born and raised in New Jersey, Richard attended Bowdoin College in Maine and returned to Maine in 1981, after having completed a doctorate in American literature at the University of Pittsburgh and served as chairman of the English Department at Montclair-Kimberly Academy in Montclair, New Jersey from 1975 through 1981. He enrolled in law school at the University of Maine in 1982 and graduated in 1985.

Richard lives in Yarmouth, Maine. He enjoys playing golf at the Portland Country Club during the summer months and skiing in both New England and Colorado in the winter. He is a passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox.
