Say Nothing, Call Me.
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

It is considered improper to discuss the specifics of a prior case due to ethical and legal considerations, such as confidentiality and attorney-client privilege. These principles are fundamental to the legal profession and aim to protect their rights and interests. However, generally speaking as an experienced attorney I strive to approach each case with a comprehensive understanding of the law and a commitment to protecting your rights and interests. This includes but is not limited to identification of Constitutional Issues, seeking resolution prior to trial, negotiation, and ultimately advocating at Trial if all other options are exhausted. With this in mind, I have been able to make a big difference to my clients, in making sure they can return to normal and put these issues behind them.

How did you build a successful practice?

Always keeping in mind what is best for the client. The Criminal Justice system can be unforgiving, and my role as an advocate is to be prepared for any outcome so that my client can make the best decision for them. If you want peace, prepare for war.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

When looking for a lawyer, clients should consider several factors to ensure they find a suitable attorney who can effectively represent their interests. Here are some key qualities and considerations clients should look for: Experience and Expertise: Look for a lawyer who has relevant experience and expertise in the specific area of law that pertains to your case. A lawyer with a track record of handling cases similar to yours will have the knowledge and insights necessary to provide effective representation. Reputation and Professionalism: Consider their within the legal community and among their clients. Look for testimonials, reviews, or recommendations from previous clients to gauge their professionalism, integrity, and dedication to their clients interests. Good Communication Skills: A lawyer who can communicate clearly and effectively is crucial for maintaining a strong attorney-client relationship. Look for a lawyer who actively listens to your concerns, explains complex legal concepts in a way you can understand, and keeps you informed about the progress and developments of your case. Strong Advocacy and Negotiation Skills: A good lawyer should possess strong advocacy skills to present your case persuasively in court. Additionally, negotiation skills are valuable for reaching favorable settlements or plea agreements outside of court. A lawyer who can effectively argue your position and negotiate on your behalf can greatly benefit your case. Commitment and Availability: Ensure that the lawyer you choose has the time and resources to devote to your case. Look for someone who is genuinely interested in your legal matter, responsive to your inquiries, and committed to providing personal attention to your needs throughout the process. Compatibility and Trust: Trust and compatibility are vital in the attorney-client relationship. You should feel comfortable discussing sensitive information with your lawyer and have confidence in their abilities. A good lawyer will establish a rapport with you and make you feel at ease while handling your case. Fee Structure and Transparency: Discuss the fee structure upfront to understand the costs involved and how they will be billed. Transparency in financial matters helps avoid misunderstandings later on. Remember, finding the right lawyer is a personal decision. It is essential to schedule initial consultations, ask questions, and assess whether you feel comfortable working with the attorney. By considering these factors and trusting your instincts, you can make an informed choice about the lawyer who will best represent your interests.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

While having a lawyer with local knowledge of a court and prosecutors can certainly be advantageous, it is also crucial to prioritize finding a knowledgeable attorney who can adapt to any circumstance and is unafraid to challenge the State or judges in any jurisdiction. Here is why this is important: Legal Expertise: Legal expertise and knowledge of the law are fundamental to their ability to effectively represent your interests. While understanding local court procedures and practices is helpful, a lawyer with a strong foundation in the relevant area of law can adapt their knowledge and skills to different jurisdictions. They can apply legal principles, research case precedents, and craft persuasive arguments regardless of the specific location. Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills are critical in navigating complex legal issues and developing strategic approaches to your case. A knowledgeable attorney can quickly assess the legal landscape, identify potential challenges, and find innovative solutions. These skills are not confined to a particular jurisdiction and can be applied effectively across different courts. Fearlessness and Zealous Advocacy: It is important to have a lawyer who is fearless and unafraid to challenge the State or judges when necessary. Legal disputes can arise in any jurisdiction, and a lawyer who is not intimidated by the opposing party or the court can provide strong and zealous advocacy on your behalf. Their willingness to question authority, challenge legal interpretations, and vigorously protect your rights is paramount to a successful defense. Adaptability and Flexibility: Legal matters can sometimes involve unexpected twists and turns. A lawyer who is adaptable and flexible can navigate changing circumstances and adjust their strategy accordingly. They can quickly grasp new information, assess its impact on the case, and make necessary adjustments to protect your interests. This adaptability is essential, as legal dynamics can vary even within the same jurisdiction. Collaborative Network and Resources: A knowledgeable attorney often has a network of legal professionals and resources that they can tap into for additional support or expertise. This network may extend beyond a single jurisdiction, allowing them to gather valuable insights or collaborate with other experienced attorneys when needed. Such resources can enhance the quality of representation and the ability to tackle challenging cases effectively. While local knowledge can provide some advantages, it is not the sole determining factor of effectiveness. A knowledgeable attorney with adaptability, fearlessness, and a zealous commitment to your case can navigate any jurisdiction, challenge the State, and advocate for your rights effectively. It is crucial to prioritize finding a lawyer who possesses these qualities while also considering the specific requirements and nuances of your case.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

During a free consultation, it is generally possible for an attorney to provide a broad overview of the charges you are facing, expectations based on similar cases, and potential sentencing guidelines. However, it is important to understand that each case is unique, and making a full determination of your legal options can be challenging without reviewing the discovery (evidence) or engaging in discussions with the prosecutors. Here is why: Limited Information: In a free consultation, you may provide a general outline of the charges against you and any relevant details. However, this initial information is often limited and may not capture the full complexity of your case. The attorney needs access to the complete discovery, including police reports, witness statements, and other evidence, to fully evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your case. Case-Specific Factors: Every case has its own set of unique factors that can significantly impact legal strategies and potential outcomes. These factors can include the specifics of the evidence, witness credibility, legal precedents, applicable laws, and the overall context of the alleged offense. Without a thorough examination of these case-specific factors, it is challenging to provide accurate advice and determine the best course of action. Position of the Prosecution: Understanding the Prosecutor and their specific stance on the case is crucial in assessing your options. Without engaging in discussions with the prosecutors or their representatives, it is difficult to ascertain their perspective, potential plea bargain offers, or willingness to negotiate. This information is essential for formulating an effective defense strategy tailored to your case. Discovery Process: The discovery process allows your attorney to obtain and review all relevant evidence held by the prosecution. This includes witness statements, police reports, forensic evidence, and any other materials that can significantly impact your case. Reviewing the discovery helps identify potential strengths and weaknesses, uncover any constitutional issues, and formulate a robust defense strategy. Legal Research and Analysis: A thorough analysis of case-specific factors and applicable laws is necessary to develop a strong defense. This often requires comprehensive legal research and a detailed understanding of relevant statutes, regulations, and case precedents. Without conducting this research, it is difficult to fully assess the potential defenses available to you. While a free consultation can provide valuable insights and general guidance, it is important to recognize its limitations. To make a comprehensive determination of your legal options, it is essential for your attorney to review the discovery, engage in discussions with the prosecution, conduct legal research, and analyze the case-specific factors. This thorough evaluation allows for a more accurate assessment of your case and the development of a tailored defense strategy that suits your unique circumstances.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

In a free consultation, it is generally important for the attorney to gather specific information to better understand your case and provide initial guidance. The following details are typically helpful for attorneys to know during this initial consultation: what you are charged with, your criminal record, the jurisdiction of your current charges, the status of the case, your side of the story, and what your expectations are for resolution.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I am an aggressive trial attorney who is not afraid to actually take your case to trial, and hold the State to their burden. My approach emphasizes a willingness to fight rather than simply seeking an easy resolution. This approach holds several benefits, even if you ultimately decide that a trial is not the best course of action for your case. Here is an explanation of why having an attorney who is willing to fight can lead to more favorable plea deals and resolutions: Negotiating Position: When the prosecution knows that you have an attorney who is prepared to fight in court, it can significantly impact their negotiating position. They may be more inclined to offer more favorable plea deals or resolutions, as they recognize the potential risks and uncertainties of going to trial. My reputation for being aggressive and not shying away from litigation can enhance your bargaining power during negotiations. Demonstrated Confidence: Prosecutors and opposing counsel are more likely to take my arguments and positions seriously when I have a track record of being prepared to go to trial. This can result in stronger and more persuasive negotiations, as the other side recognizes that your attorney is not afraid to challenge them and will vigorously advocate for your rights and interests. Comprehensive Case Evaluation: An attorney who is willing to fight will conduct a thorough examination of the evidence, potential constitutional issues, and weaknesses in their case. This level of scrutiny can uncover valuable information and legal strategies that may be overlooked by attorneys seeking a quick resolution. By diligently exploring every aspect of your case, your attorney can identify opportunities for dismissals, suppression of evidence, or favorable plea options. Tailored Defense Strategy: Having an attorney who is prepared for trial allows for a more robust defense strategy, even if trial proceedings are ultimately avoided. Your attorney can develop a strategic plan that anticipates the strengths and weaknesses, leveraging this knowledge during negotiations. This proactive approach demonstrates a commitment to achieving the best possible outcome and puts you in a stronger position throughout the legal process. Protection of Rights: An attorney who is willing to fight is dedicated to protecting your constitutional rights and ensuring that the case against you is subject to thorough scrutiny. By challenging the evidence against you, conducting extensive legal research, and actively seeking constitutional issues or violations, your attorney can maximize the chances of obtaining a favorable resolution. This commitment to protecting your rights is essential, regardless of whether your case ultimately goes to trial or not. While not every case may proceed to trial, having an attorney who is prepared to fight sends a clear message to the prosecution that you are ready to defend your rights vigorously. This can lead to more favorable plea deals, resolutions, and overall outcomes, as the prosecution recognizes the strength and determination of your defense. It is important to discuss your preferences and goals with your attorney, allowing them to tailor their approach to your specific needs while maintaining a strong advocacy stance.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Challenging the powers that be, whether they are prosecutors, police officers, or Judges, and reminding them that they serve the people, and not the other way around. Too often I have seen those with power seek to exploit and press charges against valuable and contributing members of society instead of doing what is right. Nothing is more rewarding to me then holding a mirror up to those who think they have power, and showing them that they have made a horrible mistake.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Reading and my dogs mostly.

Are you involved in your community?

I am very involved in my community, be it in outreach or simply social events, which is why I am proud to defend those who find themselves facing the oppressive power of the power that be.
