Attorney R. Davis Younts was a student at the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University on September 11th, 2001. Like so many other brave patriots, Younts volunteered to serve his country as an officer in the Air Force JAG Corps after the events of that tragic day. After a decade of military service, Younts decided to return home to Pennsylvania to continue his mission to fight for the freedom and Constitutional rights of military service members, veterans, and American citizens facing serious criminal charges. A former prosecutor, JAG, and number one ranked Senior Defense Counsel in the Air Force, who dedicates his practice to providing strategic criminal defense services in military, federal, and state court.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Used experience and team of experts to obtain a full acquittal in a drug delivery resulting in death. Expertise in jury selection, cross-examination, and access to world renowned forensic pathologist resulted in a full acquittal for a young man whose actions did not cause the death of his fiancé.

How did you build a successful practice?

A combination of passion for the law and pursuit of excellence and compassion for people.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Specific experience with their issues. Not simple time practicing law but actual experience trying cases like the client's. They should also seek at attorney that takes the time to patiently answer their questions and that they feel comfortable talking to.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge is critical. A significant part of that is based on the reputation of an attorney. Attorney's that have earned a reputation for being excellent and fearless trial attorneys but also who have a reputation of being straightforward and honorable will tend to be achieve far better results in criminal cases than attorneys who have a reputation of being afraid to go to trial, unprepared, or dishonest.

Background information about the charges. Names and contact information for potential witnesses. Biographical and background information.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Military training and experience is a huge factor. Not only because it lead to litigated jury trials but because of the military mission and strategic planning I learned as a military office, the approach that I take in analyzing all cases is unique. Every move we make is part of larger strategy to achieve the best possible results for our clients.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Helping one client at a time. I do what I do because I enjoy fighting for my clients and being a positive part of very difficult and challenging situations.

Are you involved in your community?

Serve as a pastor-elder at a local church and as the President of a Board for a non-profit providing educational opportunities for local children.
