About Robert
A graduate of the University of Connecticut and University of Connecticut School of Law, Attorney Fried has been practicing law since 1972. He has worked predominantly as a litigator; specializing in Family Law and still devotes a substantial part of his practice to Family Litigation; including custody, alimony, support and Property Disputes.
In the1980s, Attorney Fried incorporated mediation into his practice to offer clients an alternative to litigation. He has been a member of the Connecticut Council for Divorce Mediation.
Continuing to search for alternatives to litigation, Attorney Fried attended the first Connecticut Collaborative Law seminar in November of 2000 and has become committed to Collaborative Law, a new way to meet the needs of married couples who have chosen to end their marriage. He has since attended in-depth workshops to hone his skill as a Collaborative Attorney.
Attorney Fried maintains a private practice with offices in Hartford and Middletown. He has been a member of the CBA Family Law Section since 1974 and has served as a member of its Executive Committee for the last five years. He has served as a Special Master in Hartford and Middletown since the program's inception in 1986 to assist resolution of disputed divorce issues by court- arranged pretrial conferences. Over the years, he has spoken on a variety of family law topics to attorneys, psychologists and individuals seeking information and advice on divorce and divorce-related issues. Further, he has been chosen as the instructor of family law software that computes child support guidelines and provides tax information and advice for family law practitioners.
