About Brian
As the founding member, Robert J. Dewey has been representing people in court for over 30 years. He began his career as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. Desiring to have more client contact he entered private practice. Among his early cases he displayed the tenacity that has become one of his defining characteristics. A judge appointed him to look into the case of a prisoner who claimed that he had been wrongly convicted of first degree murder. A careful review of the facts revealed some key scientific tests were inaccurate. He spent the next 16 months proving the man's innocence, in spite of thinly veiled threats to Dewey and his young family. Doing what was right for his client, even though it was unpopular with some powerful people, was more important to him than social acceptance. Ultimately, he had the conviction overturned and his client returned to a productive life after nearly 9 years behind bars.
Using his trial skills, he developed a practice built partially of clients referred from other lawyers. He began to represent injured people. After trying many cases, he attended a nationally renowned trial skills workshop through the Institute of Continuing Legal Education at the University of Michigan. Shortly thereafter, he was one of only 48 trial attorneys from all over the U.S. who attended the Institute's first Advanced Trial Skills Workshop, by invitation only.
Throughout the years he has continued to successfully represent injured people, both in and out of court. He brings a wealth of trial experience and representation of injured people to Robert J. Dewey, P.A. He is skilled in every phase of case development, from investigation and assessment to negotiation and trial.
