Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

Throughout my career, I have obtained very substantial compensation through jury trials and settlements for persons who have been physically injured because of the negligence of others. In non-monetary cases, I aided a town in changing from an antiquated and unsafe water system to a modern, clean company; handled adoptions and guardianships; and assisted many people in the sale and purchase of their shore homes and businesses.

How did you build a successful practice?

Personal service, hard work, success, and referrals from satisfied clients, and other attorneys.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Honesty, personal service, responsiveness to calls, best efforts at all times.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Very. You have to know the community that will serve on your jury. You have to know the particular needs of the people in your community. You have to know the economics of the community. It's helpful to know the history, and the many generations of families that make up the community.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

If an anwer to a question can be given in a phone consultation, that can be provided. Usually, an in-depth personal consultation is needed in most instances. For injury cases, all fees are contingent on success. For other matters, a reasonable hourly charge is made in accordance with a clear legal services agreement.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

The contact information of the prospective client. The basics of the issue or question.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I try to excel in my availability to the client, and in my continuing efforts to obtain the best result possible. Forty-five years of successful experience.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Achieving the best possible result for the client.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

My wife and family, cat and dog. Music--I play trombone in concert bands. Avid history reader.

Are you involved in your community?

Yes--I served on the local board of education for 15 years. I was an original member, and still am, of the local community band.
