About Robert
Robert P. Geller, a shareholder at Hertz Schram, is co-chair of the firm's Transactional Practice Group and chair of the firm's ERISA litigation practice. Mr. Geller's clients include private and public companies for whom he handles a wide variety of transactional matters, including initial organization, acquisition and disposition of business interests, mergers and acquisitions, federal and state securities filings, and private securities offerings. Mr. Geller possesses significant experience counseling clients on compliance issues in connection with the private sale of securities and negotiating investment agreements with venture capital and private equity firms, as well as angel investors. He also serves as counsel to franchisors and franchisees, and maintains an active practice representing physicians, dentists, and other professionals in employment and related matters.
As chair of the firm's ERISA litigation practice, Mr. Geller supervises a team of ERISA attorneys who litigate ERISA class actions throughout the United States. In the past seven years the firm has recovered over 95 million dollars for participants of pension plans sponsored by Fortune 500 companies. Through the efforts of its ERISA practice group, the firm has established a national reputation representing participants of retirement plans in class actions, and its ERISA attorneys frequently counsel United States Senators and Representatives on various ERISA matters and related legislation.
Mr. Geller received his Juris Doctor degree from the Boston University School of Law in 1982 and his Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Michigan in 1979. Early in his professional career, Mr. Geller worked for the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Mogadishu, Somalia, where he worked as a contracting officer and assisted in implementing development projects in Somalia sponsored by USAID.
