Since 2000, Mr. Curtis has maintained an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell in his area of expertise: medical malpractice defense litigation. He is the firm’s leading partner in the defense of hospitals and health care providers in medical malpractice actions.
Mr. Curtis also defends drug manufacturers and medical product manufacturers in multi-state products liability litigation. Product liability clients include: The Bayer Corporation; Goldline Laboratories; Eon Laboratories; United States Surgical Corp; and American Medical Systems. Mr. Curtis was qualified in New Mexico State District Courts as an expert witness in accident reconstruction prior to attending law school. He currently represents Mack Trucks Inc.; Volvo Trucks Inc. and Freightliner Trucks Inc. in products liability litigation. He also represents Southwest Airlines and Tyco International for claims filed in the State of New Mexico.
In the past, Mr. Curtis has represented the University of New Mexico Hospital; Lovelace Health Services; St. Joseph Hospital; St. Joseph West Mesa Hospital; Northern New Mexico Rehabilitation Center; St. Vincent’s Hospital; Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services; FHP Hospitals, and the Care Unit Hospital. He has represented San Juan Regional Medical Center and Taos Holy Cross Hospital for over 20 years. Mr. Curtis has served as back up counsel for Presbyterian Southwest Community Health Services. Mr. Curtis has also represented qualified healthcare providers under the New Mexico Medical Malpractice Act before the New Mexico Medical Review Commission and in litigation.
