About Robert

Robert M. Kahn is a veteran attorney with more than 37 years in practice.

Born and raised in New York, Robert graduated in 1966 with an A.B. degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania where he majored in English and, among other things, was president of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity.

He went on to St. John's University School of Law in Brooklyn, New York where he was awarded a Juris Doctor degree in 1969 and active with the Legal Aid Society.

After completing active duty with the U.S. Army Reserves, Robert became associated with Amend & Amend, a venerable Wall Street firm, at which he specialized in commercial litigation.  Following more than three years in this position, he went on to become counsel to Faberge, Incorporated, a Fortune 500 company, where his practice continued to focus on commercial litigation together with regulatory law and product liability matters.

Four years later Robert relocated to Florida and soon thereafter founded the law firm of Kahn & Gutter, a civil litigation boutique, where for the next 25 years he built a reputation for expertise in civil litigation, business law, and general civil practice, with a concentration in personal injury and insurance, complex commercial disputes, and business formation and transactions.  In January, 2007, Robert joined forces with Frank Shooster and Tiffany Kleinman to form Shooster Kahn & Kleinman.

For more than two decades Robert has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell as an AV-rated attorney, the highest peer-review  ranking obtainable from this nationally-accredited organization which rates the legal abilities and ethical standards of all attorneys throughout the United States.

Robert is a member of the state bars of Florida, New York and New Jersey and is licensed to practice in seven federal trial and appellate courts.  A number of his cases have been reported in legal journals and several have been precedent-setting in their respective fields.   He has also served as a designated  arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association and National Association of Securities Dealers.

Away from the office, Robert is active in competitive Scrabble and has played in more than 200 official tournaments, achieving a peak ranking as one of the highest rated players in North America. T he National Scrabble Association appointed him to its Advisory Board in 1999, an office he has now held longer than any other appointee in the history of the Association.

Robert and his wife Andrea, a speech and language pathologist, have two grown children and have shared more than 30 years together collecting whimsical antiques.
