About Robert

Robert Kardashian was an American attorney best known for defending O.J. Simpson. He was born in Los Angeles in 1944 and died in the same city of esophageal cancer in 2003.

Kardashian was born into a family of business owners; his parents, Helen and Arthur, owned a meat-packing company in southern California, which he ultimately inherited. Kardashian attended college at the University of Southern California, and 1966 graduated from there with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He then earned a law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1967 and established a practice before delving into the world of business.

Kardashian practiced law through the 1970s, and co-founded a trade publication called Radio & Records, which he and his partners sold in 1979. Kardashian entered into several subsequent business ventures, including becoming the president and CEO of a company called Movie Tunes, and investing in a music video and frozen yogurt companies.

Business occupied Kardashian's time in the 1980s, but he returned from retirement in the legal field in the 1990s to represent O.J. Simpson, who was also a close friend. Kardashian initially defended Simpson as a volunteer attorney on Simpson's legal team, which included defense attorneys Robert Shapiro and Johnnie Cochran. Kardashian stood by Simpson during trial and visited him in prison. However, despite showing loyalty to his friend, he admitted to doubting Simpson's innocence.

Kardashian is the late father of four children: Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Robert, who star in the reality television series "Keeping Up with the Kardashians."
