Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I settled a slip and fall case a few months ago for 535,000 that was involved a tremendous legal battle for over two years. I took more than 15 depositions and filed motions for spoiliation and discovery abuse against the three defendants. These motions put them in an unfavorable position and led to settlement despite the fact that they were disputing liability. Two years ago I was involved in a product liability bellwether trial for my client, which resulted in a jury verdict of 3.6 million. This verdict was the only win for the plaintiffs in the bellwether trials for the Bard IVC filter.

How did you build a successful practice?

I built a successful practice by working hard on every case and paying attention to details no matter how large or small the case. I am very good about communicating with my clients and keeping them informed. Many of my clients have my personal cell phone number.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for a lawyer that has experience and success in the particular area of the law in which the client needs help. The client should also look for an attorney who is responsive to them and communicates with them on a regular basis.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

In a consultation, I need the date of the injury, the facts surrounding the event giving rise to the injury, and details about the injury and course of medical treatment. I like to obtain photos, medical records, medical bills, and police reports at the initial consultation.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I do not have a volume practice that is run by non-lawyer case managers. I work on every single case in my office, assigning my paralegal tasks to perform, as needed. In volume practices, the case is typically run by the case managers, who are not attorneys. Many times an attorney is not involved at all in the case. I am willing and able to file suit and try a case. Some firms will not file suit and they refer the case out to another attorney if they cannot get the case resolved prior to trial. Also, I have more than 10 years experience on the defense side of litigation. This experience gives me insight into how the defense attorneys evaluate and litigate a case.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding aspect of my job is helping a client move forward with his or her life after a life changing injury. Some cases pend for years and I get to know my clients and their family well. It is bitter sweet to hand them a check and to know that the case is concluded.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I love to read and work Sunday crossword and Sudoku puzzles. I have three children and two dogs that take up a lot of my time. I enjoy yoga and Pilates.

Are you involved in your community?

I have volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House and Hospice Atlanta on a regular basis. My youngest daughter and I are involved in many projects to benefit the homeless. I am currently helping my daughter start a club at her school, which is geared toward building schools in Honduras. I handle pro bono legal cases as well.
