At A&M, he earned Dean's list honors and the Academic Excellence Award. After graduating from A&M, Rocky attended law school at Southern Methodist University, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1997. Additionally, Rocky was a Student Bar Association Committee Chairman, Associate Justice of the Moot Court Competition, an honorary member of the American Inns of Court, on the Board of Advocates, and an SMU Law Recruiter. After graduating from law school, Rocky spent two years trying personal injury cases on the defense side gaining experience before joining the Ferguson Firm, where he represents people. While he has experience in oil and gas title examinations, oil and gas litigation, regulatory, administrative, corporate, real estate, probate, worker's compensation, labor, employment and criminal law, his main focus is civil litigation and he has successfully tried numerous cases involving personal injury.
In 2002, because of his significant trial work, Rocky achieved the title of "Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization". He has been admitted to practice by the State Bar of Texas, and the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He is a member of Southeast Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Jefferson County Bar Association, Jefferson County Young Lawyers Association, State Bar of Texas, American Bar Association, and American Inns of Court.
