Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I have helped many young people who have faced criminal charges; literally and physically helping them rebuild their lives. I have also helped clients through difficult divorces and custody battles, and still others through adversarial issues with their businesses.

How did you build a successful practice?

The Cronin Law Firm was built on client and lawyer referrals. The care and attention we show the people we represent and counsel is unique for a law fim. We invest a great deal of time in every legal issue we face, and we pride ourselves on our dedication to client service. We are extremely responsive and have built The Cronin Law Firm around unparalleled ethical and moral standards. Our clients are like family. My associates know that client satisfaction is paramount.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should feel comfortable expressing their feelings to their lawyer. That means being truthful with every detail of their case, but also being able to express when they are dissatisfied with the way something is being handled. Clients should expect to be treated with kindness and respect. Kindness should not be mistaken for weakness. An arrogant attorney does not mean that he is better; rather, an arrogant attorney is usually too self-absorbed to see what the client truly needs. Clients should expect prompt return of phone calls; usually within 24 hours.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It truly depends on the case. For instance, with a criminal case, it is important to know the judge's inclinations relative to certain rulings. It also helps to know court procedures and to know what steps to take to help your client obtain the best sentence possible. In family law cases, knowing court procedures and policies is very important as well, especially with Friend of the Court matters.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I always prefer to meet potential clients in person. Phone consultations are good for gathering general background information. However, during a meeting my firm can analyze the issue and help ascertain the possible outcome. We're able to help the client decide how to proceed by giving them a cost vs benefit analysis of their issue. When meeting with a potential client, the more information we have (for example relevant paperwork and history of the legal matter) the better we can address the issue they're facing.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I have been a practicing attorney for 20 years. My experience in the legal profession is very broad, working as a civil litigator, transactional attorney, in-house attorney, and criminal prosecutor. My breadth and depth of legal practice is unique, as is my empathy and sympathy for my clients. I also have an MBA which allows me to analyze cases from a more commonsensical approach. I am also licensed in three states.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Knowing that I have made a difference in someone's life.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

When I am not working, I spend time with my husband and three children. I was also a professional musician for many years.

Are you involved in your community?

I care about my community and do a lot of pro-bono work. I also am very active with not-for-profits, especially Care House of Oakland County, which is dedicated to helping children who have been physically or sexually abused.
