Sandy Van is the managing partner and founder of Van Law Firm Injury and Accident Attorneys, a personal injury, mass tort, and sex abuse litigation law firm located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lakewood, and Yakima, Washington, and Legal Support Help, a legal staffing company. She is a personal injury attorney licensed to practice law in Nevada state and federal courts and Washington state and federal courts. She also has co-counsel relationships with attorneys nationwide and accepts cases nationwide.

In her free time, Ms. Van enjoys playing poker, donating her time and money to various charitable organizations, mentoring other attorneys, and running her other businesses.

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

We had a case where the insurance company offered nothing so we filed a lawsuit; we settled the case for $1.2-million-dollar settlement. It turns out the defendant driver was on meth when he hit our clients vehicle.

How did you build a successful practice?

Through leverage, delegation, and bringing the right people together. A leader puts the right team together by hiring the right people, for the right positions, doing the right things.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

One who has the knowledge, the experience, and their case through. We send our attorneys to litigation classes every year so they can learn new technology and case tactics. We want maximum settlement for our clients.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Personal injury cases require knowledge of finding additional policies, litigation, knowledge of legal arguments, property damage, punitive damages and other nuances. It is very important to the success of our cases.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

What’s the likelihood of the insurance company’s acceptance of liability, what potential policy limits are, how many potential claimants, information on car rentals, etc.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

We just need the facts of the case if the police were on the scene, if the claimant suffered any injuries, if there was any medical treatment, the date of the accident, the insurance policies, etc.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

We are tech-savvy, we care about clients, we work up our cases rather than settling for low case values.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

The most rewarding part of the job provides is that it provides growth and personal development for my team. It also helps many injured individuals.

Poker, networking, and teaching other attorneys how to manage and build a law firm.
