What should clients look for in a lawyer?
An open communicator willing to explain the law, decisions and recommendations to the client so that the client can make the best decisions for himself or herself with the benefit of the attorney's advice. I believe there is great benefit in an attorney wanting to assist the client with his or her situation as a team instead of the attorney simply handling the attorney's case.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
In all cases local knowledge is helpful, but in some cases it is crucial. Knowing opposing counsel, local and sometimes unwritten procedures and your judge can make a world of difference.

A broad overview of the law in light of the specific case facts, a general case assessment and plan, pricing and payment information and answers to procedural and substantive questions, sometimes qualified due to a lack of information.
