Criminal Cases: People v. John Rhoads – Not guilty of strangling and drowning wife. People v. Marcus Adams – Not guilty of armed robbery even though video evidence existed. United States v. William Kapp et al. – Guilty of killing and selling endangered tigers. People v. Jeremy Allen – not guilty of attempt murder in spite of seven eye witnesses, including two security guards. Police Misconduct Cases: Ollins and Saunders v. O’Brien et al. – Four teenagers wrongfully convicted and served fifteen years out of natural life sentence before blood evidence proved their innocence. The case settled for $8,000,000.00. Rodriguez v. Woodall et al. – Man wrongfully convicted and sentenced to sixty years in prison until the eye witness admitted that the detectives coerced the identification.
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
Rouei v. Village of Skokie A Skokie police officer maliciously prosecuted Mr. Rouei based on his ethnicity. In 2013, The Law Offices of Scott T. Kamin won an outright reversal of Mr. Rouei's conviction, and in 2014 settled the resulting federal civil rights suit against the officer and the Village of Skokie for an undisclosed sum. Gibbs v. Village of Flossmoor Mr. Gibbs was charged with the aggravated battery of a Flossmoor police officer. In 2013, the Law Offices of Scott T. Kamin won an acquittal of Mr. Gibbs, and in 2014, settled the resulting police misconduct case against the officer and the Village of Flossmoor for an undisclosed sum.
