Kyle Bagen is an associate attorney with the Bagen Law Firm. As with all the attorneys in the firm, his practice area is limited exclusively to Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, with heavy emphasis on all types of motor vehicle accidents, motorcycle accidents, and truck accidents. Kyle was born and raised in north central Florida and is a graduate of Buchholz High School in Gainesville. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville, and graduated from Barry University School of Law in Orlando. Prior to graduating from law school, Kyle spent several summers working as a law clerk for our firm. He also enjoyed a semester abroad in Spain, studying International Law and traveling throughout Europe. Kyle is an avid motorcycle rider and has also had a lifelong interest in athletics, including basketball, football, and golf. He’s a past winner of the 8th Judicial Bar Association Golf Tournament.

Michael Katz practices exclusively family/child welfare law and education law. Michael has dedicated his professional career to assisting families navigate the often complex and emotionally challenging child welfare and education law arenas. Michael strongly believes that his clients need to be knowledgeable about legal issues directly impacting their families so that they can be empowered to make decisions that best meet the needs of their families. Michael has been involved with issues relating to child welfare for the past twenty years both as an educator and an attorney. Michael grew up in Baltimore County and attended Boys’ Latin School. After high school he attended Towson State University graduating with a degree in Elementary Education. Throughout college, Michael worked each summer with cognitively challenged youth and continues to this day to volunteer with various organizations that assist mentally and cognitively limited youth. He began his professional career as a teacher of special education students in Baltimore County and then as an elementary school teacher in Baltimore City before entering law school. While Michael thoroughly enjoyed his teaching experience, he felt that he could better serve children as a legal advocate. Michael graduated Magna Cum Laude, in the top 10% of his class, from the University of Baltimore Law School. While in law school he completed various internships with private and public agencies that centered on child welfare issues including Legal Aid’s Child Advocacy Unit and Advocates for Children and Youth. Upon being admitted to the Maryland Bar, Michael accepted employment as an Assistant Public Defender with the Office of the Public Defender, Child in Need of Assistance Division. This position allowed Michael to fully develop his litigation skills, foster relationships with court personnel, and provided the opportunity to observe the positive impact an experienced, knowledgeable, pro-active attorney can have on the life of a child. After three years of employment with the Office of the Public Defender, Michael accepted a position as staff attorney with the Law Office of Darlene A. Wakefield, P.A. For the last nine years, Michael has served first as Supervising Attorney then as Managing Attorney. Over the past nineteen years, the Law Office of Darlene A. Wakefield, P.A., through contracts with the state of Maryland, has been the second largest provider of legal advocacy services for abused/neglected children, representing well over twenty-five thousand children. Michael has represented over a thousand children and continues to represent parents in child welfare cases as he believes he brings a unique perspective to parents regarding how their actions affect their children. Michael has received certification to serve both as a Court Appointed Child’s Counsel in family law cases and as a mediator in Maryland Courts. Michael also represents parents in education matters as he has extensive experience advocating at Individual Education Plan Meetings and Due Process hearings. Education advocacy allows Michael to advocate for the services children need to be successful. Michael strongly believes that regardless of the socio-economic environment in which a child is raised, education truly is the key to a successful future for all children. Michael has extensive experience handling all aspects of Estate Planning. He enjoys helping individuals and couples plan for their future by ensuring that all life and legacy needs are honored. Michael and his extended family reside in Baltimore County. Michael is an avid sports fan who was fortunate to be able to attend the Raven’s victorious Super Bowl win. He also enjoys animals, traveling, and volunteer work with children’s organizations.

Attorney Jenna R. DeMartino is an Associate at Needle | Cuda, concentrating on matrimonial and family law in Connecticut, with a focus on complex family dynamics, particularly custody-related issues. Before joining Needle | Cuda, Attorney DeMartino worked at a New Haven County law firm, where she managed high-conflict divorce and custody cases. Her experience extends to criminal law matters that intersect with family cases, allowing her to navigate challenging legal issues like Temporary Restraining Orders and Emergency Custody filings. She has represented clients in juvenile, Superior, and Probate Courts, building a well-rounded understanding of the legal system. Certified as a Guardian ad Litem (GAL) and Attorney for the Minor Child (AMC), Attorney DeMartino is listed on the court-approved AMC/GAL list in the Judicial Districts of Stamford, Bridgeport, Milford, and New Haven. She takes a strategic, solution-focused approach to help clients resolve disputes amicably, offering a clear path to a positive future. Additionally, she has served as a Special Master in court-appointed matrimonial mediation and is now expanding her practice into Fairfield County, specifically focusing on high-conflict family dynamics. After law school, Attorney DeMartino clerked for a Family Judge in Milford, CT, worked for the Farmington Regional Probate Court and the Office of the Attorney General. Attorney DeMartino graduated from Western New England University Law School and joined the Connecticut Bar in 2020. Before attending law school, Attorney DeMartino earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sacred Heart University.

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Ricky Whitehead is deeply rooted in the local community and actively volunteers with the Trans Legal Aid Clinic TX (TLACT), a non-profit organization that assists trans and non-binary individuals with name and gender marker corrections in Texas. Outside of work, Ricky Whitehead enjoys spending their free time cooking, especially baking, and playing board games with friends. They share their home with a German Shepherd named Poe, who adds a special joy to their life.

Ms. Keela Johnson is an equity shareholder in our Family Law group. Ms. Johnson concentrates her practice in all areas of domestic relations and matters that impact the family, including high asset divorce and custody litigation. She serves as a court appointed guardian ad litem and parenting time coordinator in complex parenting time and custody matters, often in the middle of a contentious divorce. Ms. Johnson collaborates with her partners at Giarmarco, Mullins and Horton to identify and protect assets by using a team approach in the representation of clients. Prior to practicing law, Ms. Johnson was a mental health therapist for more than seven years. This experience allows her to bring a different perspective to emotionally charged and high conflict cases. Ms. Johnson cares about her clients and their concerns about the legal process. She understands that divorce is a time of transition and strives to help her clients understand the legal process and develop a plan, not just to see their case from beginning to end but post-judgment as well. She is highly respected by her professional colleagues as well as by judges. Pearce High School and Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. My son plays football at Southwestern. I am a native of Chicago, Illinois, and received Bachelor of Arts degrees in political science and speech communication from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, spending one semester studying abroad in London and traveling all over Europe. Following that, I earned my Juris Doctorate from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. I moved to New Jersey following graduation from law school and was licensed by the Supreme Court of New Jersey in 1994 and the Supreme Court of New York in 1995. Moving back to Chicago, I was then licensed by the Supreme Court of Illinois in 1995, and after moving to Texas, I was licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas in 2016. I have also been admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, when I was appointed by the U.S. Court of Appeals as attorney to an inmate in his criminal appeal. I have also practiced in various state and federal courts around the country. During my practice, I have practiced in the areas of family law, corporate and securities litigation, mediation and arbitration, as well as product liability mass litigation, probate, and civil litigation. I am also a certified family law mediator. My primary focus now is on all aspects of family law including divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, and spousal support. Starting in Chicago and then New Jersey, I was blessed with three amazing children. After we moved to Texas, I was divorced from their father, took in two more children, and decided I could best help people by combining my life experiences with my abilities as a lawyer. The practice of family law involves intense emotions in the clients. As an experienced litigator and from my life experiences, I am able to empathize with and fervently advocate on behalf of my clients while offering creative solutions and ideas to help clients adjust to their new “normal”.
