About Seth
During law school, Seth quickly developed his niche for trial work and secured a place on the coveted Trial Advocacy Team. He was also a moot court Appellate Advocacy Finalist. Seth won several awards and recognitions as a top-speaker and oral advocate at competitions across the state.
Since becoming a lawyer in 2009, Mr. McCloskey has successfully tried more than 200 cases to verdict. During the years he served as a state prosecutor, Seth found that standing for what is right regardless of the stakes is the only way that justice can be obtained, and the only way a litigator should fight. Seth has dedicated his career to fighting large trucking companies, insurance carriers, and others whose negligent conduct, policies, and employees injure or kill the innocent citizens of our state. Seth McCloskey treats every case he takes with the same tenacity and conviction – seeking justice for those who otherwise would have no voice or recourse against the powerful resources of the insurance industry.
Seth has been recognized as a Super Lawyer- Rising Star by Thomson Reuters and has been selected by the National Trial Lawyers Association as Top 40 attorney. He has been featured in Texas Monthly Magazine and has been interviewed by news media outlets for his specialized knowledge in civil litigation and investigations. Seth frequently writes legal education papers and presents to various groups of legal professionals, including truck accident attorneys, paralegals, and industry professionals across the country. He is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys, the National Board of Trial Advocacy, the Texas Bar College, and the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

We Let Our Results Speak For Themselves
As a leading DFW truck accident and car wreck law firm, The Law Offices of Laird & McCloskey has helped clients secure significant verdicts and settlements in serious personal injury and wrongful death cases for decades. Many cases have resulted in safety improvements made by defendants as a direct result of our cases. Our firm is handling several significant cases currently, including claims involving commercial truck collision injury, 18-wheeler accidents, and car accidents involving serious injuries and death.
Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
After a recent trial against a major trucking company, the Director of Safety for the defendant company told our lawyers that the company was going to implement new safety standards and policies as a result of our trial.
How did you build a successful practice?
Honesty, tenacity, knowledge, and hard-work on behalf of those who entrust you with their case.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
There are so many lawyers out there that every potential client should scrutinize and vet who they hire. A few critical factors to consider are: (1) Is the lawyer Board-Certified in my area of law (only 7% of all Texas lawyers are Board-Certified)? (2) Does the law firm have a history of success? (3) Is the lawyer making promises of results (no lawyer should make promises of results)? (4) Is the lawyer and law firm a good fit for me personally? If the answer to any of these questions is no, you should keep looking until you find the right lawyer for your case.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Understanding the legal landscape in your geographic area is very important. Judges and opposing counsel expect competence as well as a clear understanding of the local rules and procedures. Sometimes clients will hire us in different counties throughout Texas, but we always make sure we learn the local rules and consult with local attorneys, if necessary, to maximize our client's chance for success.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Our firm will provide an honest appraisal of your case and whether we believe we can help you be successful in your legal claim. We make it our practice to tell you the good and bad aspects of your case during the initial consultation so that you know what to expect as things progress. We explain our role as your attorneys, our fee structure, what all is involved in making a claim, expectations of litigation, and what must be established and proven at trial. Most importantly, we listen to you explain your case, answer your questions, and if you want our representation, we team up with you to maximize your recovery.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
We need to know the extent of any injuries, if there are any witnesses or a police report, the facts surrounding the incident, and basic contact information. With this information, we generally will have enough to get your case started.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
Our lawyers have demonstrated experience in most every type of personal injury case, from small car wrecks to multiple fatality cases. There are only 12 lawyers in the entire state who share our board certification in Truck Accident Law, and we are 2 of only 5 lawyers in DFW who have attained such status. Additionally, all of our lawyers are board certified in Personal Injury Trial Law. At our firm, we build each case for trial, not just for settlement. This approach has shown to be most effective in maximizing case value either through trial or settlement. A lawyer who is not willing to take a case to trial is not a threat to the insurance industry. Our lawyers have tried more than 250 jury trials and our results are some of the most significant in the state.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Hands down, providing a sense of justice for our clients.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Our lawyers have a diverse set of interests outside of the law, including family, community, travel, guitar, classical cars, and various other interests just like everyone else. What unites us is our passion for the people we represent.
Are you involved in your community?
Yes, each year members of our firm invest time and resources into the local community and surrounding areas.
