About Sharon
Sharon Duncan concentrates her practice in the areas of professional liability, employment and product liability. In her professional liability practice, Sharon defends professionals in the legal and medical fields. She represents a variety of medical care providers including physicians, physicians assistants, nurses, pharmacists, nursing homes, nursing agencies and pharmacies.
As part of her practice, Sharon also defends manufacturers of medical products and devices against product liability claims. In 2000, Sharon and Edward Sebold of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue tried to a defense verdict a product liability case in Charlotte County, Florida against the manufacturer of breast implants.
The representation of clients in employment matters is another part of Sharon's practice. She represents employers against claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation and civil rights violations. Included in the discrimination cases she has handled are those involving discrimination based on gender, age, ethnicity, religion and disability.
In 2003, Sharon was highlighted in the Orlando Business Journal's article, "Legal Eagles" which recognized some of the top attorneys in central Florida. Before joining the firm, Sharon worked as a critical care nurse. She also did cardiovascular research in the area of peripheral laser angioplasty. She has authored several articles on medical topics and is the author of a chapter in Lasers in Cardiovascular Medicine and Surgery: Fundamentals and Techniques.
