Questions & Answers
How did you build a successful practice?
I built a successful practice by working hard, providing an excellent service at a reasonable price, being responsive to my client's needs, having a great track record, and being easy to talk to. This resulted in an excellent reputation where most of my new client are the result of referrals from other clients who have used my services.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for a lawyer who specializes in the field, who has a good reputation for being honest, fair, and straight-forward, and who will honestly answer all of your legal questions
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
It is often very important for a lawyer to have local knowledge of the Judge, opposing counsel, and local rules in the success of a case.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I offer a free office bankruptcy consultation. During this consultation I will explain the different types of bankruptcy. I will advise which type(s) of bankruptcy an individual will qualify for, the cost associated with filing for bankruptcy, and the process involved. I will also discuss the impact of bankruptcy on their ability to obtain credit in the future.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
An individual does not have to bring any documentation to the free consultation. They will fill out a short questionnaire when they arrive at the office. I will need some general information about the type of debt they have, their income level, and the type of assets that they own.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I have been an attorney here in Volusia County for over 20 years. I specialize in bankruptcy, and enjoy helping people get a new financial start in life, relieving the stress and harassment of creditor phone calls and letters. I pride myself in having a very organized office, getting things done in a timely fashion, always answering my client's questions and alleviating their concerns, and having an excellent reputation among my prior clients, peers, Bankruptcy Trustees, and Judges. I have filed over 3,000 bankruptcy cases in the Middle District of Florida.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of being a bankruptcy attorney is the ability to help people get some relief from their financial problems. Financial problems can effect every aspect of a person's life. It often effects a persons physical and mental health, as the stress is often so over-whelming that is causes depression, physical illness, and insecurity in their future. Bankruptcy is a legal remedy that allows individuals to wipe out debt, and start over again with a fresh start
What are your other interests in addition to law?
Having grown up here in the Port Orange area, I love the water. My family and I enjoy boating, fishing, and going to the beach. I also enjoy taking our 2 year old Lab to the disappearing island, as he loves to swim as well! My father was a handyman, and could renovate anything. I found it amazing how he could transform something ugly, to something beautiful. I enjoy doing this as well.
Are you involved in your community?
Besides being involved in legal organizations, I am involved in school activities with my children. I have a son who is graduating from high school this year from the IB program I also have a son who is attending the local community college while continuing to live at home.
