About Stephen
Practice Area Description
Mr. Bolden, a graduate of Temple University Law School, concentrates his practice in the area of complex civil litigation. In 1982, he met the rigorous standard and requirements of the National Board of Trial Advocacy and received its certification as a Civil Trial Advocate. He has been recertified every five years from that time until the present. The National Board of Trial Advocacy is the only certifying agency which the Pennsylvania Supreme Court at the present time accepts for the purpose of permitting an attorney to include the certification on his or her letterhead.
Mr. Bolden has tried approximately seventy-five jury trials and a large number of non-jury trials and hearings. He has obtained several verdicts in excess of $1 million dollars, as well as several six-figure verdicts. Almost all of his practice is devoted to representing plaintiffs. He has trial experience in such diverse and complex matters as defamation, medical malpractice, legal malpractice, and contract litigation. He also has litigation experience in business torts including RICO and medical peer review proceedings and litigation growing out of such peer review proceedings.
As part of the Judge Pro Tempore program instituted by the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, Mr. Bolden was one of several experienced attorneys appointed by the court as a Judge Pro Tempore for the purpose of serving at the request of the court, from time to time, in the capacity as a Judge Pro Tempore. The duties of a Judge Pro Tempore in this unpaid capacity are to attempt to mediate settlements of cases about to go to trial in order to preserve judicial economy. In that capacity, Mr. Bolden does from time to time volunteer his services when called upon by the court.
