About Stephen

I practiced for years under a former Juvenile Judge to become an expert in the complex requirements of child custody law. I am grateful for the opportunity to use the skills and experience I've obtained to help my clients serve the best interests of the children in their lives, whether that be as a committed parent or a caring relative. I believe that serving the client through communication, preparation, and passionate advocacy in the courtroom results in the best outcome for the children in our cases.

Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

In one case, we help a committed parent an emergency order authorizing law enforcement to enforce the return of two children taken by a non-custodial parent. We coordinated our efforts with law enforcement to make sure the kids were found and safely returned home.

How did you build a successful practice?

We focus on what we're good at, helping our clients serve the best interests of the children in their care. As specialists, other lawyers in the community know they can trust the services we deliver to those they refer to us. Also, we deepen our knowledge and experience in this field and can provide more efficient representation.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Look for a specialist. Look for someone you're comfortable speaking with and can get a hold of, whether it be by phone, email or through helpful members of the attorneys' staff.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

The law regarding child custody is the same all over the state, but each Court approaches their handling of their child custody cases in a slightly different logistical and administrative manner. Thus, local experience can be helpful.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

Although a paid, one-hour consultation is necessary to fully review a prospective client's case, we can let clients know whether we're the right kind of firm for them to meet with and what we will go over at the consultation. Also, we can point them in the direction of a trusted colleague if it's not a child custody case.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

We need a name, number, email address of the prospective client. We need a brief statement about their legal issue and whether there is currently a child custody court order in place or if we need to establish one.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

We specialize in this field and have developed time-tested strategic approaches to child custody litigation. Each family is different, but fundamental practical and legal strategies help committed parents and caring relatives be truly effective.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Seeing our time, energy and resources translate into better lives for the children of our clients. Building a business capable of providing value to clients all over the state, doing so efficiently and effectively.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

My family and I are very involved in our church. I also play music and golf when I'm not working to serve my clients.

Are you involved in your community?

We support our church's programs, as well as community programs focused on the arts and humane treatment of animals.
