About Steven

Mr. Einhorn is a cum laude graduate of the Colorado College where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science.

Mr. Einhorn went on to attend the University of Maryland School of Law. Mr. Einhorn graduated from law school with Honors. The Maryland School of Law awarded Mr. Einhorn the Bridgewater M. Arnold award for being the law school's top performer in commercial law.

After graduating from law school, Mr. Einhorn was appointed to a Judicial Clerkship with a Judge in the Circuit Court for Calvert County, Maryland.

Mr. Einhorn has been in private practice for over a decade concentrating on the defense of persons charged with criminal offenses and alcohol related driving offenses (DUI/DWI).

The following are some of Mr. Einhorn's representative cases for his clients:

Mr. Einhorn's client's truck collided into a police car that was parked about 10 yards away at the base of hill. Mr. Einhorn's client was impaired by alcohol at the time of the collision. Mr. Einhorn was able to get the police officer to admit on cross-examination that he didn't know if the Defendant started the vehicle in motion or if one of the Defendant's passengers started the vehicle in motion by accidentally releasing the emergency brake. Since the Judge agreed that the State could not prove that the Defendant drove the vehicle, the Defendant was found not guilty of all charges.

Mr. Einhorn's client was stopped by the police for crossing the line that divides the rightmost lane of travel from the shoulder - what is known as an "edge-line" crossing. The officer who stopped the vehicle noticed that the Defendant had bloodshot and glassy eyes and had a strong odor of alcohol. The Defendant performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests. Mr. Einhorn's client was charged with various alcohol-related driving offenses. Mr. Einhorn argued at the trial that the police officer lacked a constitutional basis for stopping the vehicle for an "edge-line" crossing. Mr. Einhorn's client was found not guilty of all charges.

Mr. Einhorn's client was charged with driving while impaired by prescription drugs. Mr. Einhorn was able to get the prosecuting attorney to drop the charge after convincing the prosecutor that his client did not know the effects the prescription drugs would have on his ability to drive.

Mr. Einhorn's client was facing losing his license in an administrative hearing for allegedly refusing to submit to a breath test. Mr. Einhorn was able to convince the Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) that the police officer's statements to the driver regarding the need to submit to a breath test were so poor and misleading that the ALJ took no action against the driver and he was allowed to get his license back and avoid suspension.

Mr. Einhorn's client was facing suspension of his license since he had accumulated 12 points on his driving record. Mr. Einhorn was able to persuade the ALJ to take no action based on the fact that the driver is required by his job to drive a vehicle in the regular course of his employment; therefore, the ALJ could only sanction the driver is he accumulated 16 points or more. Mr. Einhorn's client was able to continue driving and was given a refund of the fee for requesting the hearing.

Mr. Einhorn's client was stopped for driving while intoxicated. The arresting officer stated in his police report that the Defendant performed the standardized field sobriety tests poorly. Mr. Einhorn was able to convince the prosecutor to drop the charges due to the fact that his client was forced to perform the tests wearing her boots with 3.5 inch high heels. Requiring a driver to perform tests with 3.5 inch high heels is not in compliance with proper testing procedures.
