About Steven

I have been involved in the personal injury field representing and helping clients since graduating from Michigan State University in December 1990. After receiving my criminal justice degree from Michigan State University, I began working for a personal injury law firm in September 1991. I worked as a law clerk where I interviewed clients and initiated investigations. While working for the personal injury law firm, I began taking night classes at Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University. Once graduating from law school in January 1990, I took and passed the February 1997 bar exam. After receiving my law degree and passing the bar exam, I continued to work as a lawyer at the same personal injury firm that I had been clerking at since 1991. I handled trials involving medical malpractice and automobile negligence. While working at this law firm, I handled cases involving medical malpractice, products liability, automobile negligence, no-fault claims, dog bite claims, construction claims and trucking accidents.

In April 2000, I began working for Zamler, Mellen & Shiffman, P.C. Since joining the firm, I have handled cases involving medical malpractice, automobile negligence, breach of contract claims, no-fault claims, uninsured motorist claims, dog bite claims, premises liability claims, construction accidents, wrongful death claims, trucking and motorcycle accidents, and claims involving governmental entities. I have settled hundreds of cases and have tried cases involving medical malpractice, automobile negligence, no-fault claims, uninsured motorist claims, premises liability claims and worker's compensation claims.

The Law Firm of Zamler, Mellen & Shiffman has a reputation of fighting for people's rights for over 40 years. During my tenure at the law firm, I have worked hard to keep up the firm's tradition of fighting for people's rights. One example of a case I handled involved a bus accident where a pedestrian was run over and killed. Even though the investigating police officer found no fault with the driver of the bus, I was able to prove that the investigator was wrong. Although it took approximately 15-20 depositions to prove the investigator was wrong, I was able to secure a seven figure settlement on behalf of my client by never giving up.

Another example of not giving up involved a motorcycle claim where the plaintiff was severely injured when he was involved in a t-bone collision with a van. The investigating officer in the motorcycle claim found that the plaintiff was speeding and drag racing based upon several witnesses who provided information to the police. After an extensive investigation, interview of witnesses, and multiple depositions, I was able to prove that the investigation was completely wrong and was able to secure a high six figure settlement on behalf of my client.

I currently focus my attention on automobile accidents, insurance claims involving automobile accidents called no-fault claims, premises liability claims, trucking accidents, and claims involving worker's compensation.
