Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
We were litigating a trip and fall case where the client tripped in a pothole on the street. The claim was brought against the municipality and several utility companies. Our investigation revealed that a trench was dug in the street for some type of work that ran to an adjacent utility pole. However, no one was able to determine the entity that actually performed the work. No permits or work order were discovered. Motions were made to the judge to strike the defendants' answers as someone had to perform the work and permits would be required. As the motions were pending, it was finally determined that one of the entities did perform the trench work but it was done more that 30 years ago. The case was then successfully settled.
How did you build a successful practice?
There are probably many ways to attempt to build a successful law practice. But from personal experience, it takes persistence to ride out the rocky roads in the beginning and over time to develop a bond with client and gain their trust. This will lead to long term relationships that will enhance the practice.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
A lawyer must be open and honest with the client. Convey pertinent information about the case as it develops. Most importantly, the lawyer should be responsive to the client's inquiries as the case progresses. The client should also look for a lawyer that has experience and concentrates his or her practice in the area of the client's concern.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge of the area and entities is vitally important to the success of a law practice. The are many nuances in the law such as various time limits to file claims and to start lawsuits that must be complied with. Also knowledge of how juries react in different counties can help is evaluating the claim.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
During the free initial free phone consultation, we will take an intake as to what happened, the merits of the potential claim, the parties involved, and the damages sustained. If we feel there is a potentially viable claim, we will schedule an appointment or send someone to retain the client.

Since our law firm concentrates in the area of personal injury, it is most important for us initially to determine the case of the accident and the nature of the injuries involved.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Helping people in their time of need. Due to their injuries, they may be out of work and financially stressed. We can help them to stay afloat until they can get back on their feet.
