I also have experience with custody issues involving parents that are not married. This is called a Paternity action and is very similar to a divorce but there are no alimony or property distribution issues involved.
If you are an unmarried father who is paying child support through the Department of Revenue, then you must still file a Paternity action to establish visitation rights. Remember, unmarried fathers have no custody rights to their children until those rights are established in a court of law. This is true even if you are paying child support in a Department of Revenue case.
It is not unusual in Divorce and Paternity cases for there to be an issue of Domestic Violence. I also have experience with Domestic Violence issues where an Injunction is involved.
Unfortunately, a lot of divorces also bring financial burdens. Your home may be in foreclosure or you may be facing a bankruptcy. I am an experienced foreclosure defense attorney. I will respond to the Bank's Foreclosure Complaint and proceed depending on your goals.
I am also experienced in Chapters 7 and 13 bankruptcy. Chapter 7 is a discharge of your personal debt. A Chapter 13 bankruptcy is ususally a 5 year re-payment plan.
