Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I was able to successfully allow a woman to move with children when one of her children's special needs were not being met by the school system.
How did you build a successful practice?
You build a successful practice by having both you, and your staff, perform better than everyone else.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should look for compassion, understanding and a knowledge of the law. The person hired by the client should specialize in his or her field.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is crucial to the success of your case. If you do not know the practices and procedures in the community, together with the individual preferences of each Judge, you are doing your clients a disservice.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
I do not provide free initial consultations; however, my staff can provide information about the types of cases I handle, my hourly rate and the range of fees in a normal case plus the information they will need to get started.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I have 22 years of family law experience. I received the American Jurisprudence book award in law school for family law, I was the Legal Aid attorney of the year in 2012 and was recently the President of the County Bar Association. I have lived in Naples since I was four and know most of the attorneys and all of the Judges. I have tried hundreds of family law cases throughout my career.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is hearing from clients, once their case is over, that they were able to get through it, feel satisfied with the result, and have been able to successfully move forward.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
I am also an artist and have been sculpting in clay since high school. I donate all of my pieces to various charities.
Are you involved in your community?
My main involvement is with the Empty Bowls project which is held annually in January and benefits the Harry Chapin Food bank. I not only create some of the silent auction pieces but I help with the event.
