Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

A recent case involving an insurance claim denied in bad faith put a homeowner in a very precarious financial situation. We were able to step in and show the claim was wrongfully denied and ultimately received a substantial settlement that enable the homeowner to stay in her house and get back on her feet financially.

How did you build a successful practice?

One case, one client at a time.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Someone whose belief system is the same as the client. By that I mean WHY are we working the case, does the client have the same WHY, and are we focused and aligned on the same outcome.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

In one word--EXTREMELY. Local knowledge allows attorneys to tailor their strategies based on insights into how the opposing party and local courts view specific issues, which can significantly influence the outcomes of cases. We are aware of local customs and practices that can influence how cases are litigated and how settlements are negotiated. And we know the specific rules, customs, and expectations of the local court system, ensuring filings and presentations align with local standards.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

EVERYTHING.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

We go through the basics, name and address and so forth. But we also focus on the outcome, what the client wants from the case and why.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Honestly, I think it is because we focus on why we do what we do -- our firm is here to generate financial benefits and victories for our clients, not ourselves.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

When a client says, Thank you.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I am a certified yoga instructor.

Are you involved in your community?

I try to be, as much as the job allows of course. I have always been active in my church and have served on several boards in the Birmingham area as well as national professional boards.
