Mr. McKiernan was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1962. He received a Bachelorof Science degree in mechanical engineering from General Motors Institute inFlint, Michigan in 1985, a Masters of Business Administration from theUniversity of Michigan in Flint, Michigan in 1990, a Juris Doctor from theUniversity of Detroit School of Law in Detroit, Michigan in 1995, and a Masterof Science degree in electrical engineering from Wayne State University inDetroit, Michigan in 1998. Mr. McKiernan was admitted to the Michigan Bar in1995 and the District of Columbia Bar in 2003. He is also admitted to practicebefore the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a registered patentattorney. Mr. McKiernan is a registered Professional Engineer.
Mr. McKiernan was employed as an engineer by General Motors Corporation from1985-1999. His responsibilities included the structural analysis of automotivepowertrain components. Mr. McKiernan served as a Patent Examiner in the UnitedStates Patent and Trademark Office from 1999-2000. His responsibilities includedthe examination of applications pertaining to equalization, phase and delaylocking, spread spectrum transmitters and receivers, and error and noisecorrection.
