Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I've had an incredibly complex criminal case for over a year now. The client has mental health issues and an extreme opioid addiction. While there have been lots of bumps in the road, I believe I have assisted her greatly with her legal troubles and path in life. It's been a long road, but I have become close with her and her family.

How did you build a successful practice?

I have been a solo practitioner for over 10 years now after leaving a small partnership. Client attention is paramount and I strive to communicate with clients quickly and in detail so they are fully aware of their matter.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should must look for the best fit for them and their case. Each clients case is personal to them and some attorneys take this more seriously than others. Cost is one factor and experience is another, but a personal connection is the most important factor in my experience.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Absolutely vital! Knowing your court and it's staff is very important to getting the best outcome for your case. I'm the best guy for Wayne county cases, but certainly not for Bay City. Local is always best.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I spend a great deal of my day discussing new matters with people. I like to hear their issue and get to my questions that are required to decide the next step. Can I help them? Is it a better fit for a referral attorney? Should I bring them into the office for a meeting? This can usually be done quickly and efficiently.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

The basic facts. What is your current legal issue or concern? Is something currently pending and when? This can usually go pretty fast once I can identify the issue and get to the questions at hand.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

Client centered approach. I run a boutique practice concentrating on smaller numbers of clients who get individualized attention throughout their matter, whether it be a few days or a few years. I believe I have done well if the client comes back again or refers others to call me.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Taking a client who comes into my office confused and scared and by the time they leave, they are calm and focused on what needs to be done. When they take my advice, good things happen.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

I love music and pop culture and was even once on TV for my collection of 60's through 90's relics.

Are you involved in your community?

I am. I was appointed to serve on my hometown Livonia's Zoning Board of Appeals and also sit on the Livonia Family YMCA Board of Directors. My firm also sponsors the Livonia Civic Chorus, Seedlings Braille Books and the Best of Livonia awards.
