7 SERIOUSLY INJURED, INCLUDING 3 CHILDREN, IN FIERY NW SIDE CRASH

Seven people, including three children, were seriously injured in a fiery, multi-vehicle crash on Chicago's Northwest Side. Two vehicles caught fire after colliding near North Milwaukee Avenue and North Pulaski Road at Belmont around 8 a.m. Tuesday. One of the vehicles crashed into a nearby building. An EMS Plan 1 was called. Five ambulances were sent to the scene. Three children and three adults were rushed to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. Two of the children are in serious-to-critical condition. One of the children and all three adults are in fair-to-serious condition, fire officials said. A fourth adult was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition. "The car was driving from this street -- I don't know how fast he was going, some people saying 80, 90 miles an hour. It was so fast that, few seconds and it happened," one witness said. Two witnesses say the crash was so powerful, it sent one man flying, and he landed on top of their van.
