About Michael
Michael Wells was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He has spent much of his life in South Carolina, and as a young man, attended Camden Military Academy, located in Camden, South Carolina.
Michael attended college at Valdosta State University, studying Philosophy, Applied Ethics, and English. Michael then completed his graduate school studies with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Michael is a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity (who’s philanthropy is P.U.S.H.-People Understanding the Severe Handicap). Michael was also the President of and member of the Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity. While attending college and graduate schools, he also worked as a law clerk.
Michael then attended law school at The Thomas M Cooley School of Law, located in Lansing, Michigan. Michael focused his study in law school with a concentration in litigation studies.
After law school, Michael was a part-time legal instructor for the Paralegal Studies Program at Horry Georgetown Technical College located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
During this same time period, Michael was the founder of Coastal Law, LLC. In 2001, Michael opened the first office of Coastal Law Firm, located in Conway, South Carolina. Today, Coastal Law Firm has 4 office locations. Coastal Law Firm has offices located in Conway, South Carolina, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina and a satellite office location in Columbia, South Carolina.
During Michael’s career in practicing law, he has also devoted his time giving back to his community to various fund raising charitable organizations, including the American Heart Association, The March of Dimes, the Taste of the Town (supporting education efforts), and Dancing with the Horry County Stars (supporting educational opportunities for those that might not otherwise be able to attend college).
Michael concentrates his specific area of legal practice to criminal defense, personal injury and civil litigation. Michael is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the federal and state courts of South Carolina.
