About Wendy
Wendy L. Sheinkopf joined the Law Offices of Robert M. Cohen as an associate in 2009, and brings to the firm more than 16 years of legal experience, with a concentration in family law as well as expertise in civil litigation and transactional law.
Prior to joining the Law Offices of Robert M. Cohen, Ms. Sheinkopf worked primarily in family law in the Los Angeles area over the last several years, both in association with firms, as well as on a contract basis, working collaboratively on various complex and precedent-setting matters. Ms. Sheinkopf successfully obtained two move-away orders, in family law matters in California and in the State of New Jersey (where she tried a case on a pro hac vice basis). Ms. Sheinkopf previously served as both an officer and General Counsel for Sheffield Systems, Inc., an Illinois-based telecom company, and in addition served as General Counsel for three related telecom companies. In the capacity of General Counsel, Ms. Sheinkopf personally supervised and handled all aspects of civil litigation for her corporate clients in three states (Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin) in trial and appellate court. Ms. Sheinkopf has also handled litigation matters for other clients, as an associate as well as a contract attorney, in the States of California and Illinois.
Ms. Sheinkopf attended the University of California at Berkeley, as well as the University of California at Los Angeles, and earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Sheinkopf was accepted by, but did not attend, UCLA's combined Masters/Doctorate program in English Literature. Ms. Sheinkopf attended, and obtained her Juris Doctor from, Loyola University of Chicago School of Law. There, Ms. Sheinkopf was on the Dean's List and a Member of the Loyola Moot Court Team for the Chicago Bar Association Inter-School Competition., and also received the American Jurisprudence Award in Property, the American Jurisprudence Award in Issues of Jurisprudence, the Loyola Academic Achievement Award for Scholastic Excellence in Religion and the Law, the Best Brief Award for Moot Court, the Best Brief Award for Appellate Advocacy, and a Commendation for Leadership and Service.
Prior to obtaining her Juris Doctor, among other things, Ms. Sheinkopf held the position of Research Director of an advertising firm, Zebra Associates, Inc. in New York, New York. As Research director, Ms. Sheinkopf directed research and wrote reports for the National Institute of Mental Health for the National Drug Abuse Prevention Program under Federal Government contract. Ms. Sheinkopf also worked as a Junior Financial Analyst for various Wall Street firms in New York, New York, whereby she was responsible for aspects of market analysis, specializing in the Insurance Industry.
Ms. Sheinkopf is licensed to practice law before all courts of the States of California, Illinois and Michigan, as well as before the U.S. District Courts of the Northern District of Illinois and the Central District of California. She is a member of the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and, as part of her commitment to community service, is on the Legal Affairs Committee for the Anti- Defamation League.
