Whitney Dunlap III is an AV Preeminent lawyer who has tried over 60 trials in the courtrooms of Kentucky. Born in 1960 and raised in Versailles, Woodford County Kentucky, Dunlap graduated from Miami University, Oxford Ohio with a BA degree in History with Honors. After interning in Washington, D.C., Whitney returned to law school, graduating from the University of Kentucky College Of Law in 1986.
Whitney’s law practice has focused for 30 years on courtroom litigation. He has tried cases in state and federal courts throughout Northern, Central and Southeastern Kentucky. His cases have ranged from First Amendment issues, personal injury, insurance defense, insurance coverage disputes, estates and wills, construction law, business litigation, premise liability, arson, family law, insurance bad faith and appellate cases. He has briefed and argued cases in the Kentucky Court of Appeals, Kentucky Supreme Court, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, and the United States Supreme Court. He lectures frequently at seminars on litigation and insurance subjects.
Outside the Courtroom, Whitney has contributed to his community in a number of ways. He is active in the Pisgah Presbyterian Church of Versailles, served as Vice-president and President of Habitat for Humanity of Madison County, as President-elect of the Richmond Rotary, and is on the Board of Directors for Woodford County Chamber of Commerce. Whitney is most proud of his long service to the Boy Scouts of America. He earned his Eagle Scout Award at 14 years old. As an adult, he served as Cubmaster of Pack 20-FUMC for 8 years, and as Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 401 for 10 years. He was elected to the Bluegrass Council Executive Board of Directors in 2008 and is proud to have earned the District Award of Merit, and the Methodist Cross and Flame Service Award.
He is married to the former Margaret M. Waldmann of Cincinnati and they have two sons, both of whom are Eagle Scouts.
