About William
In 2008, Bill gave a presentation on multi-jurisdictional probate and estate practice issues as part of the Presidential Showcase Seminar of the Florida Bar and has published several articles on residency, taxation and probate issues for Maine-Florida residents. In 2011, he was the Defense Bar representative in a Maine Bar Association seminar on Involuntary Commitment of the Mentally Ill. In May 2012, Bill gave a presentation on multi-jurisdictional estate planning at the Maine Bankers' Association annual Trust and Wealth Management Seminar. In 2014, he served as the patient representative on a working group appointed by the state supreme court to make recommendations on changes to the state's laws on civil commitment of the mentally ill.
Bill has lived in Waterville since 1982 and was a member of the Waterville City Council for six years (two as Chairman). He also served on the Waterville School Board for three years. Bill is a member of the Board of Directors of the Maine Global Forum and a part-time professor at Colby College, where he teaches courses in Comparative Law and the U.S. Legal System. In January, 2013, Bill took 16 Colby College students to Havana, Cuba, as part of a class he taught on Comparative Legal Systems.
