Bill Mitchem is a partner in the firm's real estate and transactional group.  Born and raised in Pensacola, Mr. Mitchem received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Davidson College in North Carolina in 1996, and his juris doctorate with honors from the University of Florida College of Law in 1999.  Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Mitchem participated in a special clerkship focusing on health care facility financing and acquisitions with the Gardner, Carton & Douglas law firm in Chicago, Illinois.  Mr. Mitchem joined Beggs & Lane upon completion of his clerkship in November of 1999.

 

Mr. Mitchem focuses his practice primarily in the areas of real estate transactions and development, condominium law, banking law, and business and commercial law.  Mr. Mitchem has represented lenders, developers, real estate brokers, health care organizations, and builders in various real property and banking related maters, including subdivision development, condominium development, residential and commercial closings, bond financings, and commercial leasing transactions.  In addition, Mr. Mitchem regularly counsels clients with regard to business acquisitions and divestitures, including the purchase and sale of several marinas in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, the purchase and sale of physician practices and health care related facilities, and several manufacturing plants.

 

In the regular course of his practice, Mr. Mitchem is required to work closely with various title insurance companies, and he is an agent for Chicago Title Insurance Company, First American Title Company, Attorneys' Title Insurance Fund, and Lawyers Title Insurance Company.
