There have been numerous successes the last year. Most have been in the immigration-criminal area, personal injury and family law. Last week I won a criminal case based on constitutional violations by a police officer in making an arrest of an innocent person. He had no reason to detain my client and did not observe a violation of the law that would have allowed him to make a legal arrest. This was extremely important to my client as he would have faced deportation if he had been convicted. We have won numerous divorce cases involving both property and custody of the children. Over the last year I have had great success with obtaining release of immigration clients from immigration custody. I get an average of at least 10 inquiry's a week. In the personal injury area we deal with a great number of injury cases involving multiple family members in an accident. Our success rate is almost perfect due to the quality of medical information we get from our providers and the attention of our staff to the needs of our clients. Every case makes a huge difference in the lives of our clients.

The key to our success has been representing many of the same families and ethnic groups for over 45 years. Recommendations from former clients has been the main source of our business. My staff has been with me for many years so the clients see the same lawyers and assistants who helped them in the past. In addition to English we speak Spanish, Vietnamese and Chinese.

Our clients should look for experience first. Are they comfortable with the attitude of the attorney and staff? Are their questions answered accurately and quickly? Can they be promised that their calls will be answered as quickly as possible?

Local knowledge is important in several areas of the law in which we are involved. For criminal cases it is critical that the attorney knows the local rules, judges , procedures and prosecutors. In civil trial work the requirements of the local courts are very important to know. Knowing the attitude of the judges toward types of cases helps as well as a knowledge of the other local lawyers who are on the other side of a case often makes the difference between winning or losing.

The information needed in the initial free phone conversation depends on the type of problem the caller has. If the call is for an injury cases we need to know how serious the injuries are, is immediate help needed, do they need us to come to visit them or can they come to the office. If it is someone in jail we need contact information for family or friends. Unless we know the detained individual we will need to meet the family or employer to get information for the bond. If a family law case we need the nature and history of the dispute. If an immigration case we need to know what type of immigration help is required, the language that is best for the client and how much of an emergency this is.

Our lawyers have taught at legal topics at law schools, lectured to judges and lawyers on legal issues and, above all, constantly study to stay ahead of changes in the law and learn new techniques to deal with new issues.

The most rewarding aspects of the job are first seeing satisfied clients and second making new law or new interpretations of the law for the benefit of our clients.

I personally enjoy playing golf, aviation, hunting and traveling in addition to the practice of law.
