Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

It is in the area of appellate practice that a lawyer can make a real contribution to the law. I have been doing this kind of practice for sixty years, so I have learned something about the criminal law. During my practice, I have appeared in all of the major appellate courts, and I have been instrumental in the laws development. In addition to my appellate practice, I also handle criminal trials, mainly in Westchester County and its environs. Be aware, that though of advanced years, I have not shown any signs of dementia, not yet. I go to the gym every day, and intend to live forever. So, have no fear, I will be with you all the way.

How did you build a successful practice?

Longgevity and clean living. I do not engage in any vices, including drinking, smoking, and sex.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

It all depends. In appellate practice, local knowledge is not important at all. The singular law of the State of New York and U.S. law is all that matters. That is why I can represent someone on appeal in any place in New York. All the work is done in the law library, and maybe a single court appearance in the appellate court is necessary.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

It is more important to answer the nest question first. Without knowing the very basic facts of the case, it is difficult to answer this question. Clients want to know information concerning fees. But without knowing the facts of a case, how could a lawyer determine fees. Is this case going to go to trial, or will it result in a plea? In my appellate practice, I first charge a basic fee to determine if the appeal has any merit. If there is no merit to the appeal, that ends the matter; there is no proper purpose to pay or accept money on a futile effort.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Just the facts.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

See above.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Doing a good job.
