Questions & Answers
Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.
I have helped parents protect their children from dangerous situations. I have also enabled parents to see their children in situations where the other parent is wrongfully withholding the child from them.
How did you build a successful practice?
My practice is based largely upon word of mouth and repeat clients. I do little to no advertising. I try to do the best job that I can for people. Although I can not control the facts of the particular cases that come my way, I try to get my clients the best results possible. I think that most of my clients believe that I have done everything possible in their cases, which is why the overwhelming majority of them come back if necessary and also refer friends and family members to my office.
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Honesty, integrity, effort, and responsiveness.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is often quite important to the success of my cases. The familiarity that exists between myself, opposing attorneys, and the local judges, can frequently provide a benefit to my clients. Because I am used to appearing before the judges in northeast Florida, I am familiar with their courtroom procedures and preferences. This can help ensure that my client's cases proceed as smoothly and as efficiently as possible.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
Through a free phone consultation, I can usually size up someone's legal situation and inform them of what their legal rights are and how I can help them.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
Usually, if someone calls for a phone consultation all that I need them to do is to be able to tell me about themselves and their situation. I have enough experience to work the rest out and ask the questions necessary to obtain the information pertinent to their case.
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?
I was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. I am as familiar with the community as anyone. My father practiced law in this area for 43 years before finally retiring. This provided me with a unique insight into this profession growing up. I have always been interested in helping people and realized through watching my father help people, that this was a great avenue to accomplish that.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
Simply knowing that I have made a positive impact in my client's lives. Knowing that without me, they might not have achieved their desired result.
What are your other interests in addition to law?
It is definitely cliche, but my main interests center around my family. I am married and have two children that I love as much as anything in this world. I also enjoy exercising, watching my favorite sports teams, and playing guitar.
